Your Local Solar PV Installer

Solar PV (Photovoltaic) Systems
BHE Solar Installations specialise in solar PV systems. Solar PV is a great way of using solar energy for micro-generation which describes the process of electricity being produced on a small scale by individual users. Not only will this bring down your dependence on fossil fuels, which reduces both your carbon footprint and your energy bills, but you can make money this way too via the feed-in tariff! See the table below to see just how much you can make.

The Tariff Changes - The new tariffs will effectively apply to all installations registered from 12th December 2011. Since these new changes further changes are proposed for those with a portfolio of PV installations at different locations. It is anticipated that this will restrict the market for "free Solar for your roof schemes". The Government also intends to introduce new energy efficiency requirement for PV installations, further details on this will become available.
Remember you are only eligible for the government feed in tariff if you use a fully MCS accredited solar panel installer like BHE Solar Installations.
With your Solar PV system and being eligible for the Feed In Tariff you can benfit in three ways.
Generation Tariff - Its a set rate that is paid to you by your energy provider for each unit (kWh) of electricity you generate. This rate will change each year for new installations but once you join you will continue on the same tariff for 25 years.
Export Tariff - You recieve a further 3p/kWh from your energy supplier for each unit you do not use, export back to the grid.
Energy Bill Savings - You will be making savings on your electricity bills as you are generating your own electricity to power your property which means you won't need to buy as much electricity from your energy provider. The amount you save depends on how much electricity you use.
As an example, a typical household solar system, with a system size of around 3.0kWp
Initial Investment in the system appx. £10,000
Generation Tariff @ 21.00 p/kWh £521
Export Tariff @ 3.10 p/kWh £50
Electricity Saving £125
Total Benefit per Year £696
Payback Time appx. 11 years
Total Profit over 25 Years £22,805 @ 8% per year
The performance of Solar PV systems is impossible to predict with certainty due to the variability in solar radiation (sun light) from location to location and from year to year. The estimate is based upon the Government's Standard Assessment procedure for Energy rating of buildings (SAP) and is given as a guidance only. It should not be considered a guarantee of performance.
How does Solar PV work?
Solar Photovoltaic panels dont require direct sunlight they work using daylight which means they are generating electricity throughout the day all year round and even on overcast days, as long as they are not shadowed by trees or buildings. Solar PV systems can be mounted on the roof or wall of a building that is facing within 90 degrees East or West to the South. The more directly South the solar system is facing the more energy and efficiency you get out of the solar panels. If the system or parts of it becomes shadowed for parts of the day then the system will generate less energy.
Solar Photovoltaic panels produce Direct Current (DC) electricity from the energy from the sun. This DC current is converted to Alternating Current (AC) by the Inverter so it can be used by appliances in the property and enabling it to be exported back to the national grid.
The meter will tell you how much electricity is being produced by the solar panels at any given time, and this becomes even more important when it comes to the feed-in tariff, which allows you to make money for every unit of energy you produce.
